Music for church at home - 14th June 2020

Postby Rev Tony Newnham » 13 Jun 2020 10:46

Hi

This coming Sunday marks the 206th anniversary of the founding of Wolston Baptist church. I've recorded a couple of voluntaries in addition to the hymns/songs chosen by the person putting the service together. Enjoy.

First up is a newly written piece in response to the Covid19 crisis. Strong Deliverer is based on the well-known Welsh tune Cwm Rhonnda (Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah) and the title derives from the words of that hymn.

Next is a relatively recent version of Psalm 23. Some people say you can't play modern worship songs on organ - think again!

Another worship song next - this time mainly on piano.

Another worship song that's been around a good long while now:

The closing hymn is again fairly recent.

And to finish, a spectacular piece based on the tune of "Now Thank we all our God". Excuse the less than perfect performance!

Enjoy!

Every Blessing

Tony

Hi Tony. Another good selection of hymns etc, Agree the Lords my Shepherd quite different but a nice change. Liked Go forth and tell enjoyed the piano plus quick change to organ. Some interesting pieces made my Sunday afternoon more pleasurable. Like Dinkey type passenger vehicles on the wall. Keep safe and well. John

Thanks John

The vehicles in the display case are scale models of busses, either by Corgi or EFE for the collector's market - which is why I've been a bit selective in what I've bought over the years started collecting around 20 years ago - not got anything recently.

Every Blessing

Hi Tony. Thanks. It’s just a colleague of mine many years ago I went to his house and I was full of unopened Dinkey models of vehicles. He has since died and I often wonder what happened to his vast collection. They would have been worth a bit. John
