Hi!

I hope you can all accept this rendering on the EL700. Its a hymn but I am not a bit religious. As they say Why should the devil have all the good music I like the music for " The King of Love".

Hi Ken,

Many thanks for your post, I too am not really a religious person but I certainly enjoyed listen your version of that well know hymn
the sounds were really appropriate for the tune and you played it with a lot of feeling you could tell. Also nice to see some new blood in this section.

Hi ALL

Well here`s my first one for this challenge, I have played this before when I had the Korg PA900 but this version is on the Tyros 5
Its Steve Wonders " I just called to say I love you " a couple of duff notes here and there but what the heck, hope you enjoy.

Hi

Another hymn - Loved with Everlasting Love. Played by me on a Mustel Art Harmonium. Sadly, I don't own this instrument.

Two excellent entries from Ken and Brian. Both very appropriate to the subject and both well played and arranged. I had only seen that the Challenge was posted and spent half an hour finding and recording something suitable to find two entrries already posted. Wonderful!

My recording gives you double value for your money in that LOVE is mentioned twice in the title. In that most romantic style of the slow waltz this is the Richard Rodgers composition "Falling In Love With Love."

Hi Tony,

Nice to hear another hymn, which to be honest you do not hear a lot of on here and two in one day is great.
I enjoyed listening to your post and the organ which you played really well sounded good but have to confess I had never heard the hymn before.

Many thanks for taking the time to make your post.

Hi Tony, It was lovely to hear the old harmonium and think that that was perhaps the forerunner of today's arranger keyboards. You have inspired me to dig out the hymn book and have a look for another hymn extolling the love of God rather than the carnal love of mankind. No doubt I will get on to that later. Thanks for taking part.

So sticking with hymns for the moment I give you the hymn - "Jesus! Name of Wondrous Love." This is sung to the tune "Gott Sie Dank" which translates as "Thank God" which dates from around 1704. The words are quite modern at about 150 years old.

This one is from the pen of the great Don McClean - "And I Love You So."

Thanks for the responses. "Loved with Everlasting Love" is rom the Sankey hymnbook (Sacred Songs & Solos), published around 100 years ago, and still in print last time I looked. It's also in a few other books from the more evngelical denominations.

The Mustel was newly restored, and I'd had it at my previous church for a concert, and to help get things bedded down. Mustels are very much the "Rolls Royce" of Harmoniums, and that organ is one of my favourites to play. I actually had to cut a verse out of the recording because I made a mess of it!

Every Blessing

This challenge is going very well. Is it because there are so many songs to pick from?

This mornings effort is that powerful song full of emotion which was such a hit for Mat Monro. I have tried to drag the emotion out of the strings for this one - Portrait of My Love.

This afternoon I have chosen for you that most hauntingly beautiful tune and scene from Oliver. Written by Lionel Bart there is no way that I could achieve the pathos of the original but here is my version of, "Where Is Love?"

I came upon this Bee Gee's song. I have always looked at it and then turned the page when I see that the last section changes from one sharp to six sharps. But then again this is the challenge so my second, and last, offering for today is this rather free version of "Woman In Love."
