Pink Pantheress (Radio 1 Sound Of 2022 winner)

Postby Hugh-AR » 10 Jan 2022 13:41

Pink Pantheress crowned BBC Radio 1's Sound Of 2022 winner.

Every year BBC Radio 1 have a public vote for who their listeners think have had the best music for the past year. When I was growing up the winner would have been Bing Crosby or Charlie Kunz (although they didn't have Radio 1 in those days).

I am putting this up so you can see how music has changed over the years. This is the sort of music my grandchildren love to listen to. No wonder they are not too keen on what I play on my organ or keyboard. Not their scene at all!

Comments from under the video:
I’m 33 and I really appreciate her for making me feel like a teenager all over again.

I was 16 in 2001 and this sounds so much like the kind of pop/UK Garage crossover songs that were popular back then! I love this! Similar type of vibe to De Nada - Love You Anyway, Sadie Ama feat. Kano - So Sure and Arora - Out Of The Rain (BM Dubs Mix).

I think I am out of touch with the modern music scene.

Hi Hugh,

I do find modern vocal music very unstructured, but that's probably just because I am an old fart that's used to the structured music of the 60s through to the 80s, and thats why if I listen to current day music its nearly always instrumentals as opposed to vocals as they do tend to have more of a structure to them. But it does seem like the days of 3 verses and two chorus`s has gone for good.

A thumping bass and no vocal range. Lazy noise and squeaky. Not really my sort. Den.
