Happy Birthday John Taylor! All-be-it a belated one.

Now, how would you like me to play Happy Birthday? As a Waltz (this, I reckon, is the traditional one)? A Foxtrot? A Cha-Cha-Cha? A Tango?

All four are in this clip:

Best wishes,

Hi Hugh. A lovely selection of styles and rhythms. Much appreciated. It’s the thought that counts. Just back from playing golf with the better half. Enjoyed it. John

Whilst on the subject of Happy Birthday To You, did you know that this tune was composed by two Kentucky sisters in 1893? Mildred and Patty Hill called their version Good Morning To All, which later evolved into the song that is popularly sung at birthday parties around the world. Below is a portion of their original manuscript showing their song:

There was a dispute regarding the Copyright to this song. A US federal judge has ruled that the company collecting royalties for Happy Birthday To You does not hold a valid copyright to the song, He ruled that the original copyright was only granted for specific arrangements of the music, not the song itself.

Here are some more 'arrangements' of this song, this time with a 'Classical' bent.

How to play "Happy Birthday" Like Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Bach and Mozart
