Music finder file for Tyros 1 on floppy disk

Postby Ron » 11 Jul 2022 14:02

Hi all

I have a friend who still has his original Tyros 1. Unfortunately it has had a system reset and the Music Finder data has reverted to the original look a like titles. He no longer has his floppy disc with the real song titles, so stuck. I do not know anyone who is still using a computer with a 3.5 floppy disk drive.

Any chance that someone has a floppy disk containing the real song titles? These MFD files are still available to download but we do not have access to a very old computer to save these files to a floppy disk. Tried connecting a laptop via usb link but nothing happened. I surmise that the original CD is needed to load the various drivers to the computer.

Anyone help?

Regards

Ron,

I have a Yamaha AR80 organ which uses floppy disks to store Registrations and Performances. I bought the Floppy Disk Drive below from Amazon in 2020 and use it all the time for downloading files and sorting them out.

I have it connected to an old Windows XP desktop and use it constantly. But also have used it with my Windows 10 laptop .. and it has worked fine. No drivers are required! It actually states that it works on Windows 10 in the description:
USB Floppy Disk,3.5" USB External Floppy Disk Drive Portable 1.44 MB FDD for PC Windows 10/7/8/98/ME/2000, Windows XP/Vista/Mac(Black)

Now you probably wouldn't want to spend that sort of money just to get the one file for the Music Finder, so would suggest that you send me the file by email attachment (or tell me where I can download it from) and I will put it onto one of my floppy disks and send it to you by post. I have hundreds of spare floppy disks so am quite happy to do this for you.

Hugh kindly mailed me a floppy disk containing the MFD file for the Tyros 1. Unfortunately this did not work and I was unable to replace the current file with the “corrected” file. I am assuming there is possibly a fault with the file or even with the floppy drive. It is now an old machine. If anyone has thoughts on this problem, then post them here.

Update: Problem solved successfully and most likely was due to me not pushing 1 button on the Tyros.

Thanks again to Hugh for all his input on this issue.

Ron,

Glad you have now got all the 'proper' Titles showing.

I have put up a Topic about the Music Finder Database .. here:
