The way you look tonight

Hi friends

Here is a recording of one of my most beloved songs - dedicated to my wife for almost 50 years ... If you feel like this after half a centurys marriage, I guess things have not been too bad ...
Sung by my friend EWA, a young beautiful Polish girl

The song comes from the film Swing Time that was performed by Fred Astaire and composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics written by Dorothy Fields. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936.

In the movie, Astaire sang "The Way You Look Tonight" to Ginger Rogers while she was washing her hair in an adjacent room. His recording reached the top of the charts in 1936.

My recording is far from perfect (it's a live recording of course) and at the end - at the keyboard solo - you can even hear Ewa singing to herself :D I guess she was entranced by the atmosphere expressed in the lyrics... But I believe you can sense the way we connected at the moment ...

Hi Torben,

Thanks for posting that. It is really beautiful. You are quite an accomplished keyboard player! And Ewa's voice is delightful.

Here is the clip from the film you mention, with Fred Astaire singing it. It's had 2.4 million views.

Hi Hugh - old friend. Thank you so much. As you know I adore playing these fantastic oldies. They do not make them anymore ...
