Hymns for Sunday 14th Feb 2021

Postby Rev Tony Newnham » 11 Feb 2021 17:39

Hi

Here's this week's selection. First up isn't a hymn at all - but I decided to record it (unrehearsed!) because Sunday is Valentine's day.

The opening song is a short worship song

Next is this classic hymn by Charles Wesley

We close with a modern hymn

My bonus track is another old hymn from the Sankey hymnbook.

The organ has had some voicing work done (by Jeremy Meager, who is generally reckoned to be the best voicer of Viscount organs in the UK). I've not had much time to play it yet, but I'm quite pleased with the initial results.

Every Blessing

Tony

Hi! Tony. Thank you for the posts. Particularly poignant for me as Valentines day was my late wifes birthday. Always a difficult time for me but your renditions help Ken S.

Thanks Ken

Reminders of those who have died are always problematical. My wife died at the end of November 2019, and the anniversary of that, followed 9 days later by her birthday, & then Christmas wasn't an easy time. Glad that my music has helped you.

Every Blessing

Tony

Hi Tony. Another good selection for my Sunday morning listen. Love Devine we had on our wedding day on 6/9/69 now over 50 years. I think that this was the version played but we were expecting another version but never thought about it when picking the tunes. Never mind it was a great day. Keep safe and well. John

Thanks for the positive feedback.

JohnT - Love Divine, to Blaenwern, was also one of the hymns at our wedding on 12th July 1969 - so also 50+ years.

Every Blessing

Wow, nice songs. I wonder the sensory sensation of playing an organ and using vision, hearing, hands and feet in unique motor coordination. Listen to the real sound of the instrument in a room that allows you to immerse yourself in the music. Amazing 8) 8) 8)
