'Round Midnight.

'Round Midnight.

I first heard this lovely tune on a LP recording of Steve Race Orchestra titled "Late Race" and wanted to copy the tune and this is the result. Only much later did I hear it played by the composer "Thelonious Monk" who plays it in a very jumpy and irregular fashion which I find very unsettling. Recent checks on Google indicate that this jazz tune has been recorded by over 1700 other performers and is one of the most recorded tunes in the repertoire. I hope you find my interpretation melodious and interesting.

Recorded on my Yamaha HX1 organ. The HX1 was the second, and last, FM synthesis organ Yamaha put out.

That was super Bev. I always wanted a HX but had to put up with my EL90 at the time. There were just a few HX being played on the circuit. I seem to remember Brett Wales playing one. regards Ken S.

Bev,

That was delightful! The whole piece had such a mysterious air about it. Your Blue Note pianist picture moving in that strange way just added to the mystery. When playing something in a minor key the harmonies one gets are always unpredictable and just add to the unusual sound of a piece.
