Music Finder Database

The Song Titles in the Music Finder are not the 'proper' names of the songs, but are descriptive titles similar to the actual name of the song. Eg. 60 Second Waltz for Minute Waltz. Yamaha have presumably done this for Copyright reasons.

It wasn't long before some enterprising users in the Yamaha community translated all those songs and came up with a "corrected" Music Finder database. You can read about this, and download a 'corrected' Music Finder database for your keyboard from the PSR Tutorial website.

Do a right-click to open this up in a New Tab.

Click on Next, bottom right of the page to continue reading through this article.

Please note that Music Finder databases are specific for your keyboard. This is pretty obvious as the database will choose Styles and Voices from your Presets. If you did load in a database from a newer keyboard than yours then you would have to use a substitute voice or style for any you didn't have .. and then the piece would not sound as originally intended.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the original Music Finder File that is in your keyboard (which is in Preset) cannot be deleted, or removed .. or 'replaced' .. so you can always put the original one back if you want to.

Once you have downloaded a Music Finder database and put it on a Memory Stick (or Floppy Disk) insert that into your keyboard. Move across to the far right to USB (or FD) and look at the screen. You should see the name of the file on the screen (or see more than one if you have more than one file on there). At the top of the screen it should say MUSIC FINDER.

You then have to choose the file you want by pressing the button next to it.
This next screen then comes up .. and you have two choices, REPLACE and APPEND.
APPEND means 'add these tracks into the existing database'.
REPLACE doesn't quite mean what you may think it says. I said earlier that you cannot actually 'replace' the original Music Finder file that is in your keyboard. REPLACE means "replace the one that is currently being viewed". And that is what you want .. to view the files with the 'corrected' Titles.
So click the button next to that.

And have to confirm this by pressing YES.

You then get this screen below, and can open Music Finder by pressing the button next to YES.

You can now check if indeed the file names are correct.

Next time you want to go to Music Finder, access it in the normal way and the new File Titles will show.
