My Special Song - The Rose

Hi!
Some years ago, Jean Martyn played for our society. She took requests at half time. So I asked her to play "The Rose" for my wife who was in a wheelchair and also suffered dementia. Jean played it and brought tears to my eyes. When she spoke to Doreen from the stage D responded. It was a rare occasion when she responded. So when I listened to Andre Rieu play it on tele last night I had a few more tears. I lost D, 4 years ago. That brought memories of happier days so I decided that would be my song of choice for January. regards Ken S.

Hello Ken, Thanks a million for posting that. I know the melody but I did not know the name of the song. Tears all through it. It is very emotional for me also.
Regards, Den.

Ken,

Thanks for posting your piece and your story behind it. Beautifully played. And it's always nice to hear something played on an organ, where every note you hear is a note you are playing. When we used to have an organ shop in Weston-super-Mare Jean Martyn came down and did a demonstration on a new AR80 organ which they had for sale in the shop. I did eventually buy an AR80, but not that one. I opted for a second hand one from Edna Halliday at Whitley Bay Organs.

Hi Thanks for comments. For Hugh; I used to visit Weston with Doreen and always browsed the music shop selection of books. We did same at jewellers for D. Happy days. Ken S.
